After a traumatic incident during his internship, young medical student James Heyman (Namir Smallwood) is transferred to a rural hospital to start a new life. Noticing that James is struggling and having difficulty communicating with patients, Dr. Harrison (veteran theater and film Michael Potts) offers to read a lecture on bedside manner and establishing closer relationships with patients. The demons from James’ past begin to catch up with him when he becomes concerned with the case of a young asthma patient (Sidney Flanigan, NEVER SOMETIMES ALWAYS) with mysterious symptoms. His connection to reality begins to weaken as his disturbing nightmares, anxiety-fueled speculations, and physical trauma collide with the harsh reality of the medical world. Director Alex Thompson has assembled a strong ensemble of seasoned character actors in the sequel to THE FRENCH SAINT and its predecessor THE WORLD OF THE SPIRIT in this humanistic and unconventional take on the genre.
